I believe that it's never late for us no matter what time it is, it's never too late to do the thing that you really wanna do.
I always wanted to create something to improve the world that could be useful to other people, helpful for other people even though it's small scope.

Many things brought me to Japan
My ancestry is from India but I've been living in the UK since I was 10 years old. Actually, my father had his work and moved to Europe. So because of family reasons, I used to be located in the UK and all my education has been in the UK but I was always interested in Asia. After graduating from university and working as a supply chain analyst and IT consultant for a few years but I was kind of getting bored, I guess rather than being bored, I just wanted a change of environment because a change of environment is a change of thought thinking in a person, so I thought I would go somewhere in Asia which was always interested in, and meet new people and work in a new culture.
So fisrst of all, I did working holiday in Japan for traveling around and seeing Japan. I really enjoyed my stay in Japan at that time. I really love the food here, I love the city and just the lifestyle in Japan in general. I won't stay long because I had to come back to the UK for some reason at that time but at that point, I thought that I would like to at least enjoy Japan and live in Japan for a longer period.
Actually, I first got interested in learning Japanese when I was 20-ish but not being able to have anybody speaking around me and it wasn't going well. However, after that, I sort of met my wife, my girlfriend at that time, I met her and then through that, I think speaking with her in Japanese was kind of like motivation. I didn't follow any textbooks or any sort of style of learning and didn't go to any schools, I just learned on my own stuff that I wanted, so many anime is my good teacher! And I have decided to move to Japan in 2019.
Never too late to do the thing that you really wanna do
I've been working as an engineer for three years. I became an engineer because I really like challenging problems, I was always interested in technology and I always like creating stuff, like ものづくり。I always wanted to create something to improve the world that could be useful to other people, helpful for other people even though it's small scope. As I mentioned that my first background was in business site, international business through supply chain management since my family background and the people around me were all had financial careers and business careers. So, I was a little bit late into the engineer field but as I went through life I got more sure of what I wanted to do. I believe that it's never late for us no matter what time it is, it's never too late to do the thing that you really wanna do.
I moved to Japan and I was working for a manufacturing company as a software engineer. Although they are a manufacturing company, there's also a lot of software involved particularly towards the embedded system side developing control systems to control valves and pumps. I was in charge of developing the solutions and taking them all the way to customers. I actually had a lot of good experiences in that company, and I really appreciate that they also did try to make me feel at home, trying to adapt themself to work in a foreign culture.
I just recently joined Alesca Japan about six months ago with a bunch of reasons. The biggest one is that I really connect with the company's mission. In agri-tech farming, we can see what we're eating out there, we can see it from when it's a seedling to all the way to when it's a finished product. I started thinking about my own relationship with food and how the food that I eat. We go to the supermarket, we just pick up the food from the shelf and we just pay for it and we eat it. We always had that connection with farming and I could tell that climate change is having a considerable impact on agriculture and agri-tech is one way to solve those problems by mimicking the optimal conditions in which you grow the plants and produce. I just wanted to be part of the solution, and I thought it was in line with what I wanted to do.
******* I do like to enjoy lerning unreal engine or augmented reality! I always wish we might be able to book a trip to Mars in the future in our lifetimes. *******
Out-of-the-box thinking and new ideas
I'm employed as an android engineer, so I am developing a mobile application for managing container farms. So, mainly I focus on the mobile side of things but I develop the web applications if needed. The mobile application has a lot of possibilities with that, I'm really excited about variable tech that you can just bring along with you anywhere.
I'm also grateful for the team that's over here. I'm happy with the mindset that Alesca has, and we do promote out-of-the-box thinking and new ideas which I always love it. The hierarchy is also very flat so that I could talk about ideas to anybody in the company. I personally think that it's not always the case in a Japanese organization because there's a radical hierarchy and you can't really promote your ideas to the top people sometimes. I'm really happy about that.
I would want to be a part of a mission in the future so everybody can have a small Alesca container in their home. If the cost really goes down and being able to have your own sort of mini supply chain of vegetables, that you can enjoy at home would be amazing. The important thing is it's not just about keeping our thinking to just agriculture, it's also about keeping an eye out on what other technological innovations are happening, which might not seem related to right now.
I've always enjoyed building stuff, so I do want to continue building stuff and see what opportunities are out there. Being in sync with it and continue building solutions that people can find helpful.
