Quipperとは

25万人の先生と300万人の生徒に使われている、教育プラットフォームを提供している会社です。DeNAの創業メンバー渡辺雅之によって設立されました。貧富や国境の差を超えて誰もが良い教育を受けられる世界の実現を目指しています。拠点はロンドン、マニラ、ジャカルタ、メキシコシティ、東京にあり、開発はロンドン、マニラ、東京で行っています。昨年リクルートマーケティングパートナーズの仲間入りをし、国内向けサービスのスタディサプリ(今年の2月に受験サプリが生まれ変わってローンチされたもの）の開発も行っています。

Tell us about yourself

"I was born in and grew up in Yokohama, Japan. My experience with computers started when I was 3 under the influence of my father, so I’ve become an engineer by vocation.Before joining Quipper, I worked as a web developer for about 10 years at IBM Japan and M3, Inc. I'm now leading the Engineering team, taking care of the system infrastructure of all Quipper systems."

How did you feel when you first heard about the StudySapuri project with Recruit?

"My first project after joining Quipper was developing GAKUMO, our first product in Japan that we created with one of our partners. Back then, Recruit’s JyukenSapuri was actually our competitor, and I never thought I would be developing with Recruit in a few years! It's really amazing how startup businesses can shift in such a short time."

What did you pay most attention to in developing StudySapuri?

"As a DevOps engineer, my focus point was to build a system infrastructure for our global team, not just Japan. So when we introduced a new system architecture for StudySapuri, it was my job to make sure that the developers outside Japan could also develop for StudySapuri by running the same application codes without major customization. Different countries have different cultures, but teachers and educators have the same problems no matter where they are, and we can help them. Quipper’s platform has greatly evolved through the StudySapuri project. We’ve created a highly effective self-learning system with online videos, and it’s ready to be spread to the world. I’m excited to continue to improve our service and help teachers, and students too!"
