Battery Management System for Electric ATV
The final project as a requirement to fulfill the bachelor's degree program. BMS is a system which manages power supplied by Li-on battery and supercapacitor to the electric motor on ATV by using DC/DC converter. The design used in this system is a full-active-hybrid configuration which consists of dc/dc converter as main power electronics on the battery, and secondary power electronics on the supercapacitor. This project includes designing, implementing, and testing of dc/dc converter on battery and supercapacitor. To keep the lithium-ion battery safe within its allows range, several mechanisms such as battery the active cell balancer, battery temperature monitor, current monitor, and display of the state of charge (SoC) of the battery is included in this system. The controller used in this system are STM32F4Discovery and Arduino. The work, which was done by a team of three, includes designing PCB, choosing components value, programming microcontroller, soldering, and testing and evaluating the system.
