But let’s take a step back for a moment. Who were leaders in your life that you genuinely respected? It could be someone at work, it could be a coach, or a teacher. There are things that these people tend to have in common, and which end up being the reason we remember them.
These people will work hard. They may be tough, but when push comes to shove, they give so much to help out even the lowest ranking member of the team.
They show us that we are included and valuable, and they genuinely care.
These things don’t just make us feel good, they also keep us from having to worry about other things, like group dynamics, or being unfairly punished because we truly feel protected. When we’re working with a great leader we can accomplish so much more, and feel genuinely much happier as we work!
“Leaders Eat Last” is a great book by Simon Sinek which goes in-depth on the subject. You can watch a talk by him here: https://youtu.be/ReRcHdeUG9Y
