We don’t usually toot our own horn but (seeing as you might work here soon) we thought you might like to know GoBear is Asia’s first and only meta search engine for financial products. We spend our days trying to figure out how to make comparing insurance and banking products as awesome as possible. Our happy place is where users don’t even have to think twice – they can choose a financial product that’s right for them and feel confident with their choice (we know that’s a nerdy happy place, but we can’t help what we love). We’re looking for people who break the mould; who’ve got a hankering to do something completely different. Obviously we want our bears to be smart and hard working but, more importantly, we want people on our team who love technology, who love their job, and who aren’t afraid to fail while trying something completely crazy. In a nutshell, GoBear makes it simple for you to compare insurance plans and financial products to find the one that’s right for you. We take all the complicated and, let’s face it, boring information from banks and insurance providers, make it easy-to-understand and put it on your computer screen, tablet or phone in a way that makes it easy for you to compare apples with apples. That’s it. No trick or surprises from us. (Except the good kind of surprises. We like those.)

Who’s who in the zoo? Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you’ll work fabulous people spread across the business and technology teams, based across 7 countries: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. What kind of fun will you get up to at GoBear? - You’ll architect and validate cloud-based solutions to deliver web applications at scale - You’ll define and drive comprehensive test-first processes within the software development teams - You’ll conduct research and build proof-of-concept prototypes to validate ideas - You’ll take ownership of key cross-functional initiatives involving DevOps, Software Development, Design and QA - You’ll act as a technical consultant to internal business units - You’ll seamlessly lead R&D efforts to explore new technology that allows GoBear to maintain its competitive edge - You’ll expertly conduct technical audits (Infrastructure, Performance, Security, Scalability etc.) - You’ll provide technical leadership in implementing scalable solutions Got skills? This dynamic start-up requires an assertive, no-nonsense and hands-on Platform Architect with most of (preferably all!!!) the following skills and qualifications: - You have above par communication and interpersonal skills. - You have par excellence command of English (written and oral). - You bring in in-depth knowledge of modern architectural principles. - You bring in expertise in the various software development methodologies and the trade-offs of employing one vs. another. - You bring in experience in employing architectural design patterns at the enterprise level. - You are familiar with Atomic Design Principles. - You have a good understanding of Object-Oriented programming fundamentals, and how to apply them. - You have eCommerce domain knowledge and experience. - You’ve earned a Bachelor’s in computer science, Information Systems or another related field. - You bring in at least 10 years of software development experience, 4 of which has to be in a Tech Lead or Architect role. Sounds like you? - You’re kind. - You have the ability to communicate complex concepts in an understandable manner. - You’re willing to coach and teach others. - You prefer persuading others through calm, respectful, rational argument. - You are always learning.
