🌸 Spring in Japan Always Feels Like a Reset 🌸
Spring in Japan feels different from anywhere else I’ve lived.
Every year around this time, the atmosphere quietly shifts. Students graduate, new employees join companies, and suddenly there’s a sense that many people are starting a new chapter at the same time.
And then the sakura appear.
For a short while, everyone slows down a little. People stop on their way home to look at the trees, gather in parks with friends, or take photos even if they’ve seen cherry blossoms many times before.
What I find interesting is that sakura season doesn’t actually last very long. Sometimes just a week or two before the petals fall.
There’s a saying in Japan:
「桜は散るからこそ美しい」
Cherry blossoms are beautiful precisely because they fall.
But maybe that’s exactly why people appreciate it so much.
Living here made me notice how naturally Japan builds these moments of “reset” into everyday life. Not in a dramatic way, but quietly. A change of season, a new school year, a new fiscal year.
It’s a reminder that starting over doesn’t always need a big resolution or a perfect plan.
Sometimes a new season is enough.
You just pause for a moment, look around, and continue forward a little differently than before.
And before you realize it, spring has already arrived again.
