なにをやっているのか
The Trade & Investment Section of the British Embassy is a busy and active team which works hard to promote links between Japan and the UK in different business sectors. We help British companies develop business in Japan and we also support Japanese companies expand their business into the UK. We do our work by leveraging the various asset we have as a government organisation; links into UK and Japanese government, our extensive contact network and our very unique location to bring Japanese and UK businesses together.
なぜやるのか
Trade and investment are becoming ever more important in an increasingly connected world. And B2B collaboration is also a key for companies to succeed in a fast paced business world. We want UK businesses to be successful in Japanese market and also hope that they are thereby able to introduce new values and capabilities into the Japanese market and vice versa for Japanese businesses entering the UK market. Technology can create and enable such links too but ultimately it comes down to people to people interaction and that is where we can play a big role as we interact with many businesses.
Japanese investment into the UK plays an important part of the UK economy. We wish to inform Japanese tech companies of the opportunities in the UK as the UK government embarks on ambitious industry policies in areas such as AI, fintech and help them expand/land into the UK successfully.
どうやっているのか
We engage with Japanese and UK businesses directly to understand their ambitions and identify how government intervention can help. We also hold events of various sizes and formats to help present the UK and UK companies in the best light to our Japanese business audience.
