Vincent Van Patten

Consistent writer on topics such as travel, culture, adventure, personal-growth, history, literature and philosophy in Medium’s top publications. These are the topics which set my soul on fire.

I worked as an English teacher for the ECC Foreign Language Institute, based in Osaka, Japan. In this role, I taught both children and adults of up to twelve-student classes. I took joy in creating personal relationships and developing an atmosphere of encouragement and enthusiasm for learning English.

In the summer of 2022, I worked as a volunteer at the Lookout Lisbon Hostel in central Lisbon, Portugal. I worked at the front desk, checking in and checking out guests visiting from all over the world. I also assisted in cleaning, organizing events, and helped to create a welcoming and warm environment in the hostel at all times.

With a concentration in Professional Creative Nonfiction Writing, I studied memoir, travel and nature writing, poetry and literature. I gained experience as an editor, consistently critiquing the work of other students.
