Quipperとは？

25万人の先生と300万人の生徒に使われている、教育プラットフォームを提供している会社です。DeNAの創業メンバー渡辺雅之によって設立されました。貧富や国境の差を超えて誰もが良い教育を受けられる世界の実現を目指しています。拠点はロンドン、マニラ、ジャカルタ、メキシコシティ、東京にあり、開発はロンドン、マニラ、東京で行っています。昨年リクルートマーケティングパートナーズの仲間入りをし、国内向けサービスのスタディサプリ(今年の2月に受験サプリが生まれ変わってローンチされたもの）の開発も行っています。

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF

"I was born in the outskirts of Tokyo and lived there until I graduated high school. Then I moved to Kyoto for university where I majored in Physics, but had to drop out due to health issues.

I started programming while I was a student, but teaching myself to code wasn't easy, so I joined a small web design company and started to program full time. Since then I've been a software engineer for more than ten years.

I'm currently living in the west side of Tokyo with my wife and a cat. I adore my cat to pieces, I take photos of him sleeping or in funny poses every day."

WHY DID YOU JOIN QUIPPER?

"I previously worked in a company that provided hosting services and e-commerce solutions. Because they were a subsidiary of a large Japanese corporation and the business was very domestic, I was feeling somewhat constrained and had started thinking about a job change to a more global environment where I could use English. Just then, an ex-colleague asked me if I am interested in joining Quipper with him. I had already known about both the company and its CTO, Masatomo Nakano, and a start-up sounded like a good place for a new challenge. I was completely charmed by the founder/CEO, Masayuki Watanabe's vision of Quipper, so that's how I made my final decision to join the band.

When I joined Quipper in 2013, I never dreamt that we would be adding offices in Manila, Jakarta, and Mexico city by the end of 2015. We’ve come a long way in a short time, and we’re expanding even more! I'm really excited that I'm now collaborating with people from across the seas, from places I've never been to in my life. We’re all working together to change for the better through education. "
