Facing the Issue (Campaign & Urban Installation)
UK’s homeless population has been alarmingly increasing since 2015. Followed by an incident where a homeless person froze until death in front of our local bank during winter, I became interested in the public’s perception towards this issue. After researching and interviewing classmates and lecturers from my university, I realised that the issue relied on the social stigma behind homelessness, the lack of information about the issue in the media and interaction between the public and homeless people. Facing the Issue is a campaign and urban installation developed to support The Big Issues’ vendors by sharing their stories and informing the public about homelessness. The idea was to create a sense of responsibility within the community and raise awareness about homelessness.
