SoundCloud Redesign
This SoundCloud project is an independent study on how design can help identify key opportunities in a business. While a majority of the designs presented here show UI/UX screens, on a deeper level they demonstrate how the lack of attention to engagement tools is one of the core reason behind SoundCloud’s failure. Rather than just fixing a couple of design issues raised during the user research phase, this project explores the SoundCloud ecosystem and rethinks how elements such as services, tools, and business model can be redesigned to strength user engagment and the discovery of music. While it made sense in the beginning to follow a similar design as Spotify or Apple Music, I came to the realization that SoundCloud is completely different. With its niche market of listeners and creators, the discovery aspect of the platform is what separates SoundCloud from others. With this in mind, design solutions such as the CTA banners and action tools were redesigned to make discovering new music as seamless as it can be. This project can be found on Medium and it’s purpose was to simply share a perspective on design beyond interfaces and pixels.
