Dogas - The Dancing Class
Degas Ballet Classroom is an immersive interactive installation created for the "Theater Life: From Realism to Neo-Realism"exhibition at the Asia University Museum of Modern Art. Inspired by Edgar Degas' iconic ballet paintings, the installation transforms a gallery space into a living theatrical experience through projection, real-time animation, and point cloud visualization. Rather than presenting the paintings as static artworks, the project reimagines them as moving performances unfolding within the exhibition space. Ballet motion data generated in Unity drives the animation of point cloud representations reconstructed from Degas' paintings. Projected through a suspended projection system, the dancers appear to perform freely within the gallery, dissolving the boundary between two-dimensional artworks and three-dimensional space. By combining procedural animation, point cloud rendering, and immersive projection, the installation explores how digital technology can reinterpret classical art, transforming museum visitors from passive viewers into participants within an evolving visual narrative.
